Shooting prompts 50th homicide inquiry this year for Metro Police

​​​​​A man is dead after a shooting in the west part of the valley Friday night, Metro Police said.

Also according to police:

At 8:25 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 800 block of North D Street. They arrived to find a man who had died from an apparent gunshot wound.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man was on the side of the road when a white, four-door truck with tinted windows and a yellow stripe on the passenger side approached. The front passenger fired one round before the driver fled.

No suspects have been identified, and the motive is unknown. This is the 50th suspected homicide investigated by Metro Police this year.
