Don't let the rain and cloudy weather fool you — temperatures will reach the high 100s this week around the valley.
Light rain was reported in Henderson and north of Summerlin this afternoon and will continue into the evening, according to the National Weather Service. The temperature is holding at 104 degrees and will increase starting Monday, meteorologist Caleb Steele said. Pea-sized hail also was reported in some parts of the valley.
Gusty winds up to 20 mph are traveling through the valley and are causing a rise in the temperature, Steele said. Monday through Wednesday, the average is forecast to be 108 degrees, and the evenings will cool down to the mid- to high 80s. The weekend will get slightly hotter, with an average of 109 degrees.
This week is expected to be sunny with clear skies, Steele said.
Grab your sunscreen and crank up your AC because a break in the hot weather is not expected any time soon.
