Motorists may want to avoid Interstate 15 near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend as the Electric Daisy Carnival arrives in town, bringing with it heavy traffic.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is expecting delays Friday through Sunday on I-15 between Cheyenne Avenue and Speedway Boulevard Exit 54. Officials suggest drivers take other routes, if possible.

About 140,000 people are expected each night of the three-day electronic music festival at the speedway, 7000 Las Vegas Blvd. North, near North Hollywood Boulevard, according to the Department of Transportation.

Parking lots for the event open at 5 p.m., and doors open at 7 p.m. Festival organizers suggest those who are driving carpool to reduce traffic congestion and travel times, according to the EDC website.
