Las Vegas man, 46, dies in apparent drowning at Lake Mead

A 46-year-old man who died in an apparent drowning Sunday afternoon near Boulder Beach at Lake Mead has been identified as Carlos Campos of Las Vegas, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Campos was swimming about 1:10 p.m. when someone reported that he appeared to be drowning, according to a news release from the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

National Park Service rangers tried to revive him, but Campos was pronounced dead about 1:45 p.m., according to the release.

Campos was not wearing a life jacket, officials said.

The Coroner’s Office has not yet released the cause and manner of death.
