Henderson Police say they are seeking this man in the robbery of the U.S. Bank branch in the Smith's grocery store at 1000 N. Green Valley Parkway on Tuesday, June 16, 2015.

A 31-year-old Las Vegas man was arrested Sunday afternoon in connection with four bank robberies in the past few weeks, Henderson Police said.

Oswald David Perez, dubbed the “Chin Strap” bandit because of his unique beard, was taken into custody without incident in the area of Town Square, near West Sunset Road, police said. A booking photo shows Perez relatively clean shaven, but police said they believe he shaved the beard.

Detectives recovered evidence of the suspect’s involvement in the robberies during a search of his home, police said.

With the assistance of the FBI and Metro Police, Henderson Police identified and located Perez based on bank surveillance photos and witness descriptions of the suspect and the vehicle he used to flee the scene, authorities said.

In each of the robberies, the suspect presented a note demanding money and showing a weapon to the tellers, police said. No weapons were used and no one was injured during the robberies, police said.

Police said the suspect is accused of robbing the U.S. Bank inside Smith’s grocery store, 1000 N. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson, on June 16; Chase Bank, 6920 Arroyo Crossing Parkway in Las Vegas, on June 18; U.S. Bank, 10140 W. Flamingo Road in Las Vegas, on June 19; and Chase Bank, 2585 Anthem Village Drive in Henderson, on June 20.

Perez is being held at the Henderson Detention Center on multiple counts of robbery and burglary, police said.

Detectives continue to investigate the robberies.
