Metro Police investigating death of infant

Metro Police are investigating the death of an 8-month-old boy Monday morning, but nothing appears suspicious, authorities said.

Medical personnel and officers were called about 3:30 a.m. to the scene of an unresponsive infant at a home in the 9200 block of Opal Hills Lane, near South Cimarron Road and Blue Diamond Road, Metro Officer Larry Hadfield said.

The child was transported to St. Rose Dominican Hospitals — San Martin Campus, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The cause and manner of the boy’s death have not yet been released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Officers with Metro’s abuse and neglect section responded to the call, which is standard practice in child death investigations, Hadfield said.

There appears to be nothing suspicious about the death at this time, and the case remains under investigation, he said.
