Fire does $100,000 in damage at vacant Henderson house

The Henderson Fire Department responded a house fire early this morning after receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls from surrounding residents.

Firefighters arrived at the home on California Way, near Lake Mead Parkway and Boulder Highway, this morning at about 12:15 a.m., according to a City of Henderson news release.

Heavy smoke was coming from the rear of the home and extending to the neighbor's backyard.

Firefighters organized a defensive attack to stabilize the scene, and then extinguished the fire, police said.

The house is vacant and bank-owned. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined and still under investigation, police said.

The total loss is estimated at $100,000.
