Finalists named for Nevada district judge vacancies

State officials today announced the final candidates to fill the two judgeships in Clark County that were made vacant when District Judges Abbi Silver and Jerome Tao were named to the new court of appeals.

To succeed Silver, the Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection selected lawyers Mary F. Chapman, 51, of Las Vegas; Joseph P. Hardy, 42 of Henderson and Louis E. Johnson, 54, of Las Vegas.

Recommended to replace Tao were Karl W. Armstrong, 54, of Las Vegas; Hardy and Johnson.

Gov. Brian Sandoval will select the candidates for the open seats in the 8th Judicial District Court. There were 25 applicants for the two positions.
