From pawn shops to guns and ammo, the top 10 most popular store types in Nevada

The chic shops lining the Strip may be big draws among tourists, but they’re hardly Nevada’s most popular retail destinations, according to a report from the Huffington Post and Yelp.

The collaboration found that video game stores are the most common retail businesses in the state, with their presence about 402 percent higher in Nevada than in other states.

Guns and ammo, adult stores and pawn shops were among the other most popular, though perhaps not surprising, store types in the Silver State.

Yelp mined data from their expansive online store listings to calculate the percentage of different types of businesses compared to the total number of store listings in each state. It then compared those percentages with national averages to determine the top 10 most disproportionately common stores in each state.

Plus Size Fashion — 355 percent higher than national average

Wigs — 347 percent higher than the national average

Vape Shops — 325 percent higher than national average

Guns & Ammo — 308 percent higher than national average

Adult — 280 percent higher than national average

Outlet Stores — 264 percent higher than national average

Hats — 243 percent higher than national average

Pawn Shops — 242 percent higher than national average

Leather Goods — 240 percent higher than national average
