Man in wheelchair hit by car dies month later

An 80-year-old man hit by a car last month while crossing Charleston Boulevard in a motorized wheelchair has died of his injuries, Metro Police said.

Usher Barrington of Las Vegas was crossing the street about 5:50 p.m. Feb. 11 west of Tonopah Drive when he was hit by a car, which attempted to avoid the accident, police said. Barrington was not in a crosswalk, police said.

He was taken to University Medical Center with injuries that, at the time, were not thought to be life threatening, police said.

But on March 21, the Clark County Coroner’s Office reported that Barrington had died and the cause of death was multiple blunt-force injuries from the accident, police said.

The accident is still under investigation, police said.
