A man pronounced dead Tuesday after the car he was driving hit a light pole and fence near West Lake Mead and North Martin Luther King boulevards has been identified as 70-year-old Ernest Harris Jr., according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
Harris, a Las Vegas resident, was driving a 2005 BMW 545i south on J Street, south of Doolittle Avenue, when the car crossed into the northbound lanes, Metro Police said.
The car hit a curb and went off the road, hitting a pole, an electrical box and a fence, police said.
Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. The Coroner’s Office has not yet released the cause and manner of death.
Police were investigating the possibility he suffered a medical episode prior to the crash, Officer Laura Meltzer said.
A female pedestrian was hit by debris from the crash and was transported to University Medical Center with minor injuries, Meltzer said.
