Fugitive suspected of impersonating cop arrested in Las Vegas

A fugitive wanted in Georgia on suspicion of impersonating a police officer and possession of a firearm was arrested Wednesday night in Las Vegas, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Justin Shuler, 31, wanted by police in Adairsville, Ga., was picked up near West Tropicana Avenue and Dean Martin Drive after officials developed information that he had fled to Las Vegas, authorities said.

Shuler, who was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center, pending extradition to Georgia.

The task force is led by the U.S. Marshals and is made up of deputy U.S. marshals and officers from Metro Police, the Nevada Department of Public Safety and the Nevada Department of Corrections.

“This prompt and successful investigation is another example of how effective the combined resources of the participating task force agencies can be in making Las Vegas a safer place by quickly removing dangerous felons from the community,” District of Nevada U.S. Marshal Christopher Hoye said.
