Police: Gun threat that spurred Summerlin school lockdown was hoax

Updated Thursday, March 26, 2015 | 4:40 p.m.

The lockdown has been lifted at a Summerlin elementary school after police investigated a call that someone with a gun would be coming to the school, police said.

The call was placed about 2 p.m. to D’Vorre and Hal Ober Elementary School, 3035 Desert Marigold Lane, near Town Center Drive and Desert Inn Road, Metro Police Officer Larry Hadfield said. Nobody with a gun has shown up at the school, he said.

The lockdown was lifted about 3:25 p.m., Clark County School District Police Capt. Ken Young said.

Police accounted for all students and teachers, investigated the threat and have left the scene, Hadfield said.

Students were let out at 3:31 p.m., the normal dismissal time, Young said.

He described the call as a hoax.
