Pedestrian hit by taxi, critically injured on Boulder Highway

A pedestrian was critically injured this morning when he was hit by a taxi while crossing Boulder Highway south of Russel Road, Metro Police said.

A Checker Cab car was headed north in the middle lane of Boulder Highway about 1:50 a.m. when it hit the pedestrian, who was crossing the street midblock outside of a marked crosswalk, police said.

The pedestrian, Oscar O. Camara-Castillo, 22, of Las Vegas, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said. The cab driver suffered minor injuries but remained at the scene, police said.

The driver was not suspected of driving impaired, police said. The accident is under investigation.
