The Clark County coroner says he's going to retire to take an executive post with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Michael Murphy said Tuesday that after 13 years as coroner and medical examiner it's time to do something new.
Robert Lowery Jr., vice president at the missing child organization in Alexandria, Virginia, confirms that Murphy has signed on to a role finding long-term missing and unidentified children.
The 61-year-old Murphy tells The Associated Press his new job continues what he started when he became coroner in 2002 — identifying people who've met an untimely end in Sin City.
Murphy made headlines and got results when he began in November 2003 to post photos on the Internet of some of Las Vegas' many unidentified dead.
