Why are products not being taxed?

This is something that I think the Legislature should consider this session:

When you buy new kitchen materials or new hardwood floors, etc., you pay sales tax on those purchases. If, however, you buy the same products and have the store install them, you don’t pay tax, as it is considered a service. Think of the thousands of remodeling jobs being done where there is no tax collected for those purchases. I can understand not taxing services, but what about purchases? This would be a very simple adjustment for the state to raise money for education. A good deal for taxpayers, a very bad deal for the state of Nevada.
