Sandoval buries time capsule to mark Nevada’s 150th birthday

Special items from Las Vegas and Nevada's 150th birthday have been buried in a time capsule for 50 years.

Gov. Brian Sandoval and former Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki met Friday morning at Springs Preserve in Las Vegas to do the honors. The capsule will be buried along a pathway that connects the preserve with the Nevada State Museum.

Many of the items are mementos from the sesquicentennial celebration events, including a final report and letters from both leaders, as well as out-going Sen. Harry Reid sent by the Pony Express Re-Ride. There were also several DVDs.

Officials also buried a time capsule at the State Capitol in Carson City.

Sesquicentennial events were held throughout the state leading up to the anniversary of Nevada's statehood, which took place Oct. 31, 2014.
