A former student pilot was arrested Saturday morning after stealing a plane from the North Las Vegas Airport and going on an unauthorized flight, North Las Vegas Police said.

Shortly after midnight, police were called to the airport to investigate a report of a stolen plane, Officer Aaron Patty said.

Evan Grant, 27, who trained at the North Las Vegas Airport, was eventually talked into safely landing the plane, Patty said.

Details regarding where or how long Grant flew the plane were not available. He was booked on a charge of grand larceny auto, Patty said.

The incident remains under investigation.
