Lucky No. 13: 51s set franchise record for wins

In 33 years of existence, the Las Vegas Triple-A baseball franchise has never done this.

The Las Vegas 51s won a franchise best 13th straight game today, erasing a late one-run deficit for a 6-4 win at Albuquerque. The previous best streak was 12 games in 1987 by the Las Vegas Stars.

Brandon Allen went 3 for 5 with two runs scored, leading off the bottom of the eighth with a double and scoring on Cory Vaughn’s bases-loaded walk to tie the game at three.

Las Vegas (19-8) scored three runs in the ninth to secure the win, including a run-scoring single from Allen and RBI fielder’s choice from Eric Campbell.

Albuquerque scored an unearned run in its half of the ninth, but closer Chase Bradford didn’t flinch in recording his fourth save of the season.

Travis Taijeron went 3 for 3 with a double, run scored and RBI for Las Vegas, and Matt Reynolds had two hits, a run scored and RBI.

The series concludes at 10:05 a.m. Thursday. The 51s return to Cashman Field next Tuesday after a four-game series in El Paso.
