letter to the editor:

Solar investment return is pitiful

I have invested a significant dollar amount in a solar power system, and the 3 percent cap that NV Energy insists upon paying those of us with solar is egregious and unconscionable. A system costs in excess of $30,000, and I considered the system to be the cornerstone of my retirement, but at 3 percent, I am only getting $5 a month return on my investment.

When I lived in Northern California, I had a solar power system installed, and the rate of return was immediate and nearly 50 percent a month. I do not get those results here. I contacted NV Energy, which blamed the solar company. The solar company blamed NV Energy, and I was told to hire — at my own expense — an engineering firm to find out what was wrong with my system.
