A storm system that brought sporadic rain to parts of the valley Thursday will keep temperatures cool Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a 40 to 45 percent chance of rain Friday, with light showers and winds of 10 to 15 mph predicted, Weather Service meteorologist Reid Wolcott said.

The high temperature should be about 65 degrees, he said.

The system, which arrived from the California coast, had the potential to leave a dusting of snow on Mount Charleston overnight at elevations as low as 6,000 feet, he said.

Meteorologists are forecasting a high of 75 degrees Saturday and 81 degrees Sunday, he said. The low Saturday morning is expected to be about 55 degrees with a low of about 60 degrees early Sunday, he said.

The system is expected to move east or northeast by Saturday morning, Wolcott said.

Temperatures should be in the low 80s early next week, he said.

Light rain fell in the east valley Thursday in a day of gusts, hail and sunshine.

Areas east of UNLV and parts of the southeast valley including Green Valley and Sam Boyd Stadium's surroundings saw light rain, Wolcott said.

The rain fell hours after a few hundredths of an inch fell in the north valley, accompanied by pea-sized hail and lightning, he said.

The hail lasted about two to three minutes in most areas, he said.
