Man shot during gas station argument in western valley

Shooting

An argument involving two cars at a gas station led to a shooting that injured one man tonight in the western valley, Metro Police said.

Police were called to the area near Westcliff and Durango drives about 5:20 p.m., Lt. Michael Mauntel said.

After words were exchanged, one of two males from the suspect vehicle fired one round, striking the driver of the other car, which had four other passengers, he said.

The man was struck in the right hip and transported to University Medical Center with injuries believed to be nonlife-threatening, Mauntel said.

The suspect and victim were outside their vehicles at the time of the shooting, he said.

As the suspect car was fleeing, it hit a wall in the parking lot, he said.

Police are searching for that vehicle, described as a late-model, white car with front-end damage, he said.
