Second suspect arrested in fatal shooting of good Samaritan

Metro Police have arrested a second suspect in a drive-by shooting last month that killed a woman who was helping others in distress.

Michael De Angelo Scott, 21, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Sunday, court records show.

Police say Scott is behind the death of Cassandra Lee Cassidy, 24, of Las Vegas. On April 17, Cassidy encountered two women who said they were scared of men in a car following them. Cassidy was pulling into her work that evening at the addiction treatment center Solutions Recovery, 1355 Westwind Road, near Charleston Boulevard and Lindell Road, police said. The women were talking to Cassidy while she was in her car and asked for help and if they could use her phone.

Cassidy agreed and handed one of the women her phone. A car occupied by three men drove up and multiple rounds were fired, none of which hit the other two women, but Cassidy was fatally wounded.

She died at University Medical Center, police said.

Scott faces multiple charges, including one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, one count of conspiracy to murder, and one count of illegally discharging a gun.

The other suspect arrested was a 17-year-old male, and his status is unknown since he is a minor.
