Officials ID man killed in east valley crash with fire engine

A 28-year-old man killed after the pickup truck he was driving collided with a Las Vegas Fire & Rescue engine Sunday night in the east valley has been identified as Sergio Rodriguez-Trujil, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Rodriguez-Trujil, a Las Vegas resident, died of multiple blunt-force trauma in the accident, the Coroner's Office said.

He was driving a 2002 Chevy pickup truck south on Boulder Highway when it struck the rear of a fire engine turning from southbound Boulder Highway onto Sandhill Road, according to Metro Police.

The fire engine was responding to a call and had its emergency lights and siren on, police said.

Rodriguez-Trujil was taken to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The firefighters were not injured and remained on scene, police said.
