Child bicyclists injured in separate valley crashes, police say

Two boys riding bicycles were injured after colliding with vehicles in separate Las Vegas Valley accidents this morning, Metro Police said.

Police were called about 8 a.m. to the northwest valley near Gowan and Cimarron roads, where a juvenile riding a bike collided with an SUV, Officer Larry Hadfield said.

The boy was transported to University Medical Center with injuries believed to be nonlife-threatening, he said.

A report was taken, and the accident remains under investigation, he said.

About 8:15 a.m., police reported to the area near Russell Road and Topaz Street in the southeast valley, where a sedan and another male juvenile riding a bike were involved in a crash, Hadfield said.

The boy was transported by a family member to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, he said.

The extent of the boy's injuries was unknown, but they did not appear life threatening, Hadfield said.

A citation was issued, though it was not immediately clear which party was issued the citation, he said.

No major road closures occurred due to either incident, he said.
