PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. — The actor who portrayed Screech on the 1990s TV show "Saved by the Bell" has gone on trial in Wisconsin for allegedly stabbing a man at a bar.

But WITI-TV reports that proceedings in Dustin Diamond's trial in Ozaukee (oh-ZAH'-kee) County Circuit Court came to a screeching halt Wednesday morning. A defense attorney had written "Good Luck Dustin" on his car's rear window.

Judge Paul Malloy said that wasn't appropriate and ordered him to remove the message within five minutes.

Diamond is charged with a felony of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and two misdemeanors.

Prosecutors say the 38-year-old Diamond stabbed a man with a pocket knife during an argument at The Grand Avenue Saloon in Port Washington on Christmas Day. The man was not seriously hurt.
