Coroner IDs man, 21, fatally shot at North Las Vegas park

A 21-year-old man killed Tuesday in a shooting at a North Las Vegas park has been identified as Las Vegas resident Alika Chappell-Hersh, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Chappell-Hersh died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen in a homicide, the Coroner's Office said.

Officers were called about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday to Craig Ranch Regional Park, located at 628 W. Craig Road, near Revere Street, to investigate a report of a shooting, North Las Vegas Police said.

Chappell-Hersh was involved in a confrontation with someone during which he was shot, police said.

A friend took him to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police said the shooting didn't appear to be a random act.
