Nearly a quarter-inch of rain fell in downtown Las Vegas this morning, and locations across the valley experienced small hail and light snow.

Metro Police, meanwhile, said they were busy responding to traffic accidents caused by wet road conditions and urged drivers to slow down.

The heaviest rainfall was recorded just east of McCarran International Airport, where 0.25 inches fell.

There was a brief break in the rain late this morning, but showers picked back up in the afternoon, meteorologists said.

The eastern part of the valley saw its share of the precipitation, ranging from 0.1 inches to nearly 0.25 inches in some spots, while the west valley remained mostly dry.

Temperatures below 50 degrees led to some showers turning into small hail, or what meteorologists described as graupel.

Mount Charleston reported 4 inches of snowfall, and some areas near Spring Mountain Ranch State Park within the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area saw small amounts of snow as well.

Temperatures are expected to continue to fall, reaching as low as 43 degrees tonight.

Meteorologists say most of the rainclouds have moved out of the valley, with only remnants remaining.

Thursday will be dry and warmer, with a high in the upper 50s to lower 60s and rising to the mid-60s for the weekend.
