Fire at east valley apartment building does $50,000 in damage

A fire at an east valley apartment building this afternoon caused about $50,000 in damage, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Firefighters responded at 2:25 p.m. to the blaze at 5820 Dodd St., near Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue. Crews found heavy fire and smoke coming from the second floor of an eight-unit apartment building, officials said.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which remains under investigation. No injures were reported.

The fire displaced two adults and one infant. The Red Cross was assisting the victims.
