Fires break out at Paris, two other Las Vegas locations

A fire at Paris Las Vegas sent fire crews rushing to the Las Vegas Strip early today — part of a busy morning in which two other blazes broke out in the valley.

The Clark County Fire Department said the Paris fire was reported at 1:02 a.m., prompting the department to send 45 firefighters to the resort. The blaze was located in a first-floor trash chute and was confined to that area, authorities said. It was extinguished quickly, and no one was injured. There was no damage to the structure.

At 1:44 a.m., Clark County firefighters responded to a fire at a storage shed at Paradise Spa, 9457 Las Vegas Blvd. South. That fire, near an apartment building on the structure, was contained to a water heater on the property.

About three hours later, reports of an explosion brought firefighters to USA Auto Repair near Pecos and Tropicana avenues. Firefighters said heavy flames were coming from the building when they arrived. The department sent 30 personnel to the scene, bringing the fire under cotrol at 4:43 a.m.

No one was injured, and the cause is under investigation. A damage estimate has not been determined.
