The sun sets at 4:30 p.m. Saturday west of Las Vegas.

Just when you thought it was time to bring out the puffy coats and hot cocoa, the valley is expected to warm up just a bit, according to the National Weather Service.

The weekend is expected to be “pretty nice” but slightly cooler than normal, meteorologist Chris Outler said. Today’s high of 66 degrees is lower than the normal for this date of 71.

Tonight is expected to drop to 46. Sunday’s expected high is 68.

Along with lower temperatures, Las Vegas-area residents likely are noticing early sunsets. The average sunset time in the past week was 4:43 p.m. — earlier than other West Coast locales because of our spot on the far eastern side of the Pacific Time Zone, Outler said.

Temperatures are expected to decrease again by the beginning of next week, he said. Monday’s expected high is 65, with gusty winds in the afternoon, followed by a high of 59 Tuesday.
