Two people were taken into custody by Metro Police this afternoon after a reported shooting in the southwest valley.

Police were called to investigate a report of shots fired about 1:45 p.m. in the area of Haunts Walk Avenue and Magrath Street, near Fort Apache Road and Wigwam Avenue, Officer Jesse Roybal said.

People were running from the area, and when police arrived, a vehicle took off, Roybal said.

Police pursued and took two people from the vehicle into custody about two miles away, he said.

Their ages and genders were not immediately available.

Two other people of unknown age and gender were dropped off at a local hospital and later transported to University Medical Center, Roybal said.

Police are investigating if their injuries are related to the southwest valley incident.
