Incident

An 80-year-old Las Vegas woman died after being hit by a pickup truck Thursday afternoon near West Charleston Boulevard and South Torrey Pines Drive, according to Metro Police.

Officers were called about 3:30 p.m. to the north driveway of the parking lot at Walgreens, at 6401 W. Charleston Blvd., according to police.

A GMC Sierra pickup was turning right onto eastbound Charleston from the driveway and hit the woman, who was walking on the sidewalk across the driveway, police said.

The 28-year-old Las Vegas man driving the truck was uninjured and remained at the scene, police said.

The woman, whose identity will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 96th traffic-related fatality investigated by Metro this year, according to police.

Eastbound Charleston was closed between Torrey Pines and Community College Drive during the investigation, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
