Coroner IDs man, 32, shot near downtown Las Vegas

A man who died after he was shot Monday near Fremont Street and Charleston Boulevard, within a mile of where his girlfriend was found dead, has been identified, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Jamel Colbert, 32, died of gunshot wounds at University Medical Center, according to Metro Police and the Coroner’s Office.

His city of residence was not immediately available.

Officers were called to the 2100 block of Ballard Drive about 7:20 p.m. Monday, where they found Colbert wounded, Metro Police said.

About 15 minutes later, 911 dispatchers received word of a shooting victim in a vehicle in the 2400 block of Fremont Street, police said.

The female victim was dating Colbert, but detectives do not believe the deaths were the result of a domestic dispute, police said. The name and cause of death of the female victim have not yet been released.

Investigators believe the deaths are connected, and no one is in custody in connection with the incidents, police said.

Anyone with additional information can contact Metro’s homicide section at 702-828-3521 or via email at [email protected].
