Police ID suspect in shooting of man found dead in doorway

Metro Police are searching for a suspect in the shooting of a man found dead Wednesday in the doorway of an home near downtown Las Vegas. Police identified the suspect today as Omar Valencia-Garcia, 32, of Las Vegas.

Officers were dispatched about 2 p.m. Wednesday to the 1000 block of Jessica Avenue, near Huntridge Circle Park, to investigate reports of gunfire in the area, police said. They found a man lying in the doorway of a home with apparent gunshot wounds, police said.

An investigation found the victim and suspect were arguing when they began to physically struggle, police said. During the struggle, the victim was shot several times, and the suspect fled, police said.

Police do not know what prompted the incident.

The victim’s name has not yet been released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
