A Clark County School District substitute bus driver was arrested Saturday on counts including sexual assault of a child and lewdness, according to Metro Police.

Ramiro Garcia, 52, faces two counts of sexual assault of a child under 14, three counts of lewdness with a child under 14 and one count of child abuse or neglect, according to police and court records.

Police were contacted Saturday with allegations that Garcia sexually assaulted a juvenile, and he was arrested and booked at the Clark County jail following an investigation, police said.

He posted bond Monday, according to court records.

He has been suspended without pay, School District spokeswoman Melinda Malone said.

The Clark County School District said in a statement today that it worked with parents and Metro Police after being notified of an accusation involving Garcia.

"Parents of students who were recently on Mr. Garcia's bus route are being contacted and advised to talk to their children and call the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report any information pertinent to the investigation," the statement said.

Garcia was hired in 2011 and was assigned to the Cheyenne bus yard, which serves school bus routes in the northeast valley, the statement said.
