Man, 18, dies four days after Henderson crash involving semi

Crash

An 18-year-old man died Wednesday, four days after hitting a semitruck in a Henderson crash apparently influenced by drugs, alcohol and speed, according to police.

The man was headed north Saturday on Green Valley Parkway in a 2000 Acura Integra about 6:30 a.m. when he struck the semitruck at the Windmill Parkway intersection, according to a news release from Henderson Police.

The semi tried to turn left onto eastbound Windmill from southbound Green Valley when the Acura struck its side, police said.

The Acura driver, whose identity will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, was traveling at a high speed and appears to have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol, police said.

He was taken to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and died in the 10th traffic-related fatality reported in Henderson this year, police said.

The truck driver wasn’t injured and remained on scene, police said.

Northbound traffic on Green Valley was diverted for about four hours, police said.
