A woman police say assaulted her daughter and threatened to kill her husband was arrested after a barricade situation at a Henderson apartment early this morning, according to police.

Officers were called to investigate a reported domestic dispute about 1 a.m. at the Camden Commons apartments, at 6530 Annie Oakley Drive, near Sunset Road and Green Valley Parkway, according to Henderson Police.

Six neighboring apartments were evacuated, police said.

Detectives believe Melissa Williams, 35, assaulted her 16-year-old daughter and threatened to kill herself and her husband, 56-year-old Roderick Merritt, police said.

She had a handgun in her possession, police said.

The daughter left the apartment, and her aunt called police, who arrived to find four adults and two juveniles still barricaded in the apartment.

Three of the four adults and the two juveniles surrendered without incident after hours of negotiations, and Merritt was arrested on a count of obstructing a police officer when he surrendered, police said.

Williams, who did not surrender, was taken into custody by SWAT about 6:45 a.m. on multiple counts including possession of a controlled substance, possession of a gun by prohibited person, domestic battery and obstructing a police officer, according to Henderson Police.

Williams and Merritt also both had traffic warrants and were booked into the Henderson Detention Center, police said.
