Pedestrian hit by motorcyclist is hospitalized

Metro Police were investigating two separate injury crashes on Charleston Boulevard on Thursday evening.

Officers were called about 7 p.m. to the area near Charleston and Maryland Parkway, where an eastbound motorcycle collided with a pedestrian, according to police.

The pedestrian, whose age and gender were not immediately available, was taken to University Medical Center in unknown condition, police said.

The motorcyclist suffered minor injuries and remained on scene, Lt. Kendall Bell said.

Eastbound Charleston was closed just west of Maryland, he said.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, Lt. Harry Demetres said.

In an earlier crash, a driver was hospitalized after hitting a pole about 6 p.m. near Charleston and Durango Drive, Demetres said.

The driver suffered what appear to be nonlife-threatening injuries, he said.

The cause of the single-vehicle accident remains under investigation.

No major traffic delays were reported, and further information on the driver was not immediately available, Demetres said.
