A man who served as the bailiff of former Judge Elizabeth Halverson and complained he suffered a head injury while in jail died Wednesday in state custody in Indian Springs.

The Nevada Department of Corrections said Friday that Johnnie Benjamin Jordan Jr., 46, couldn't be resuscitated after he was found unresponsive Wednesday in a single-person infirmary cell at High Desert State Prison.

Jordan complained of seizures after suffering a head injury in a fall in the North Las Vegas jail, and his lawyer, Spencer Judd, says Jordan complained his injuries were never treated properly.

The Clark County Coroner's Office is investigating his cause and manner of death.

Jordan was sentenced in 2010 to 10 years to life in prison on a felony lewdness with a child conviction in Las Vegas.

Court records show he withdrew an appeal of the case in August amid questions about his mental competency.

Halverson removed Jordan as her bailiff before she was officially removed from her position in November 2008.
