Off-duty Metro officer shot at while pursuing suspects

Updated Friday, Oct. 2, 2015 | 11:41 p.m.

Police are on the hunt for suspects who shot at an off-duty Metro Police officer in Henderson Friday night.

The off-duty officer came out of his house about 9 p.m. near Horizon Ridge Parkway and Carnegie Street and noticed three men on foot acting suspiciously in his neighborhood, Henderson spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said. The officer saw that two of them were armed.

The three got into a white Dodge Charger, which the officer began to follow in his own vehicle.

A short time later, three men exited the Charger, fired at the officer and fled. The officer was shot at three times, but neither he nor his car was hit, Richards said.

The officer continued to pursue the Charger until he lost it around Carnegie and the 215 Beltway.

Officers from Metro and Henderson Police are searching for the suspects and the Charger.

Anyone with information about the suspect vehicle is encouraged to call 311.
