Cooler temperatures come to the valley with rain

The valley will get some much-needed relief from last week's high temperatures as rain moves into the area Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

The streets of Pahrump are experiencing localized ponding, and there have been reports of hail in the area, meteorologist Chris Outler said.

"That's where most of the action is," he said.

Summerlin, Mountain's Edge and surrounding areas already have seen some rain and scattered thunderstorms, but the rest of the valley has an 80 percent chance of seeing rainfall later tonight or Monday.

Today's forecast brings mostly cloudy skies with a high of 81 degrees and a low of 63 degrees.

The cloudy skies will continue into Monday, which will see a high of 72 degrees and a low of 62.
