M Resort casino heist suspect arrested in western New York

A 35-year-old man police say robbed the M Resort cashier cage last month was taken into custody near the Canada border Saturday afternoon, according to Henderson Police.

Damir Vucic is being held at the Erie County Holding Center in Buffalo, N.Y., and is awaiting extradition to Nevada, police said in a news release.

He has been charged with one count of robbery with a deadly weapon, one count of burglary with use of a firearm and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the Sept. 25 robbery at the Henderson casino, police said.

He was in the Buffalo area with family, according to police.

Police were looking for the suspect who robbed the cashier cage about 6 a.m., threatening an employee with a weapon before taking money provided by the cashier and fleeing the casino, located at 12300 Las Vegas Blvd. South, police said.

The suspect was wearing a black ski mask, black gloves and dark clothes, police said.

No one was injured during the robbery, and police were able to recover the money during their investigation, according to the news release.

Vucic was taken into custody with the help of the FBI Buffalo Violent Crimes Task Force and the FBI-led Las Vegas Criminal Apprehension Team, which includes officials from Henderson Police and Metro Police, according to the release.
