School locked down after person flees traffic stop

An elementary school near West Lake Mead and North Jones boulevards was locked down today as officers searched for a person who ran from a car stop in the area, according to Metro Police.

The U.S. Marshals Service requested the help of Metro Police about 1:30 p.m. after the person ran from the stop near Bertha Ronzone Elementary School, 5701 Stacey Ave., Metro Officer Larry Hadfield said.

Information was not immediately available about what led to the stop.

The person who fled, a male of unknown age, is not in custody, Hadfield said.

The school was locked down from about 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. as a precaution, Clark County School District Police Capt. Ken Young said.
