The kicking game rarely provides the biggest highlight in a high school football contest.

One exception came in Arbor View’s 45-0 Homecoming rout over Bonanza Friday night. Senior kicker James Drye may have emerged as the player of the game after booting through a 47-yard field goal.

“He’s a senior who had only ever played soccer,” Arbor View coach Dan Barnson said. “We brought him in, and every time he kicks off, it’s out of the end zone. He’s got the biggest leg of anyone we’ve had since (current UNLV punter Logan) Yunker.”

The Aggies booted the Bengals all over the field to win their sixth straight game. Junior quarterback Hayden Bollinger completed six of seven passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns.

Senior Alex Simms, sophomore Deago Stubbs and senior Noah Noce caught the scoring strikes. Stubbs also had a touchdown on the ground, totaling 74 rushing yards.

Junior Andrew Wagner led the team in rushing with 85 yards. Arbor View stayed perfect in Northwest division play while Bonanza fell to 0-3.

“We’re just trying to put ourselves in a position to win a division championship,” Barnson said.
