Teen arrested in shooting death of North Las Vegas girlfriend

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the death of his 17-year-old girlfriend, who was shot at least once last week at a North Las Vegas home, according to police.

Officers were called about 5:15 p.m. Thursday to a report of an unresponsive person at a house in the 3300 block of Bridge House Street, near Allen Lane and Cheyenne Avenue, according to North Las Vegas Police.

The girl, identified as North Las Vegas resident Arely Arzate-Lujan, was suffering unknown injuries and was taken to University Medical Center, where she died Saturday, according to police and the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Detectives allege Arzate-Lujan was at the house with her boyfriend and that he shot her with a handgun. Later, he tried to hide the gun, police said.

The boy, whose identity has not been released due to his age, was arrested Sunday night and booked into Clark County Juvenile Hall on one count of murder with a deadly weapon and one count of tampering with evidence, police said.
