Cheyenne High football players A.J. McConnico, Zavieh Harrell, George Carmona, and Ashton Lawson before the 2015 Season.

A.J. McConnico passed for nearly 300 yards and four touchdowns today as the Cheyenne High football team recorded its fourth straight shutout with a 28-0 win against Clark.

“Another shutout. I’m so proud of my guys,” Cheyenne defensive coordinator Gerald Robinson said.

Ashton Lawson led the defensive effort with two interceptions, and scored on a reception of about 80 yards.

Tight end George Carmona had a touchdown reception of 40 yards, and Deriontae Green and Zavieh Harrell each also had scoring grabs.

Cheyenne hosts Desert Pines next week in the first round of the Division I-A playoffs. Desert Pines is considered the favorite to win the state championship, but Cheyenne doesn’t lack confidence. Its defense is proven and last season the Desert Shields only lost by eight points to Desert Pines.

“We know they have a tough offense. We are excited to take on that challenge,” Robinson said. “Our seniors have been looking forward to this game ever since they knocked us out last year.”
