The best places for trick-or-treating in Las Vegas

Halloween: Town Square

Christopher DeVargas

Trick-or-treaters of all ages roam the streets of Town Square on Halloween Monday, Oct. 31, 2011.

Halloween is nearing, and according to a report by real estate listing service Zillow, Las Vegas is one of the best places for trick-or-treating.

Las Vegas comes in No. 12 nationwide in the ranking of where kids can safely score the most candy the fastest.

San Francisco topped the list for the fifth straight year, and five of the top 10 cities were in California.

Boston was the only city east of the Mississippi to make the top 10.

The list, compiled by Zillow, uses data such as median home value, the average distance between houses and crime rates to extrapolate where kids might find the best and safest trick-or-treating.

If you’re looking for the best neighborhoods in Las Vegas to parade around your little ghosts and goblins, Zillow listed these as tops in the valley: Sheep Mountain, The Lakes, Desert Shores, Summerlin North and Buffalo, in the area of Rainbow and West Charleston boulevards.

All five neighborhoods are located on the west side of the valley.
