Firefighters put out blaze at casino office building

Casino office fire

Firefighters put out a blaze early today at a building that serves as an administrative office for the Longhorn Casino on Boulder Highway, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

The fire was reported about 4:40 a.m. at the office in the 4500 block of Sheppard Drive, a block west of Boulder Highway, officials said.

The building, which is behind the casino, was unoccupied at the time, and the fire was extinguished within a few minutes, officials said.

The cause of the fire and the dollar-amount of damage have not been determined, officials said.

A separate fire, meanwhile, was reported shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday in a free-standing garage in the 3000 block of East Sunset Road, officials said.

The garage was packed with a variety of items, and firefighters had to force their way in through a metal roll-up door, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimate was available.
