Nevada taxable sales up 2.2 percent in August

CARSON CITY — Taxable sales in Nevada rose 2.2 percent in August to $4.1 billion, according to the state Department of Taxation.

Sales in Clark County increased 1 percent, while Washoe County was up 6.9 percent. Taxable sales were down in 10 of the 17 counties.

The biggest decline was 53.4 percent in Esmeralda County, followed by 20.3 percent in Humboldt County.

The last statewide decline in taxable sales was in August 2013.

The state collected $82.2 million as its share of the sales tax, an increase of 1.85 percent.
